Software architect and consultant. For over two decades I have designed, built, and modernized software systems, from PHP applications in the early 2000s to cloud platforms on AWS, Google Cloud, and Azure, to today's AI-assisted engineering.
My specialty: private, on-premise AI deployments. I help organizations run generative AI entirely inside their own infrastructure, so they get the productivity gains without surrendering privacy, data control, or security.
- AI-assisted development adoption: workflows, review discipline, and quality control that make tools like Claude Code and GitHub Copilot an asset in production
- Private AI: self-hosted models, local inference, internal knowledge systems (RAG), and team enablement
- ailane: my open-source tool that inspects a machine's hardware and reports which local AI models it can run
I have written three books for programmers and solutions architects:
- You Are the Quality Control — a practical guide to secure software in the age of AI-assisted development
- Bed Time Stories for Programmers and Solutions Architects — 21 stories from the field
- Diary of a Solutions Architect — a raw, first-person look into the world of cloud solutions
