The current slideshow is using custom code which then loads the Bigshot library to offer the zooming and full-screen capabilities.

- Works on mobile, but no swipe support

- Image pre-loading (1 image before or after)
- Zooming (via mouse or keyboard)

- Background colour switch
- Auto-detection of broken previews
- Automatic luminance calculation to determine the colour to use for the background

Using an alternative all-in-one script would help reduce the time it takes to improve and maintain the current solution, but there will inevitably be trade-offs.
