I use Python a lot, but I also used Golang, Typescript, Javascript, PHP, C, HTML, CSS, Nix, Bash, Rust, and more... I'm not an expert, but with good documentations, examples, Stackoverflow and AI... we can do great things.
Important
I'm not fan of AI. I can ask AI some tips, some "how to do this ?", but I don't like having AI doing things for me.
I don't want to be part of all the "AI generated PR" that are overwhelming Open Source. For this reason, I try to write my codes myself, following my thoughts.
I use Docker (not fully oss), Git, Nix/NixOS (I use nixos btw), Vim, Tmux (trying Zellij), Zsh (and ohmyzsh), ohmyposh...
I work on MacOS (not oss) with nix-darwin, NixOS on Asahi Linux, NixOS on Linux, Debian (for servers), and sometimes I launch Windows for gaming.
My favorite apps&services are Ghostty, Spotify (not oss), Zen Browser, Tailscale (not oss), Figma (not oss), Notion (not oss), Discord (not oss, @airo.pi)...
I also do selfhosting, with lot of open sources services like Nextcloud, Jellyfin, StirlingPDF, Vaultwarden, Gramps Web, Authentik, Immich, Kutt, Stalwart, Technitium DNS, Caddy, Uptime Kuma...
I use/have used Postgres, Bind9, Nginx, CEPH, Proxmox, MariaDB, Gallera, Docker Swarm, Ansible, Github Action, Gitlab CICD, Jenkins, Postfix, Freeradius, Gitlab...
I didn't contribte to a lot of open sources projects for now, but I want to contribute more and more.
Some projects where I did at least one Pull Request:
- Memories
- nixpkgs
- cup (draft)
- hjem-impure (draft)
- uptime-kuma (merged from another PR)
- nextcloud all-in-one
- and more...
Sometimes it's a whole feature, sometimes just documentations, but I do think every contribution is important, since it can helps other users of such projects !
