Make installation easier for both users and developers

There are a lot of steps to get Max set up for users and developers.

Is there a way we can ease this process through a script? Docker?

Also, we need to figure out precisely what requires java to run. It looks like the patch generator menu doesn't work, the menu doesn't populate.

Users no longer need to worry about npm install, but there's a lot more than can be done here so I'll leave it open
