Right now, there’s no single, structured place where new or existing contributors can discover all the projects in the Decred ecosystem(except github which can be very unfamiliar to a lot of creators/people and https://devdocs.decred.org/projects/ which is buried deep in the docs, missing vital project info and doesn't include other tools/projects in the ecosystem). If someone wants to get involved, they usually have to wade through chat logs, repeatedly ask questions, or rely on word-of-mouth to figure out:
- Which projects exist
- Their current status(s) (active, paused, abandoned, experimental)
- Who maintains them
- What the project is about, how to contribute, or priority level.
This creates unnecessary friction for on-boarding contributors, slows down discovery, and can leave some projects under-supported simply because they aren’t visible.
I propose we create a dedicated Projects Page on decred.org (instead of a separate subdomain like projects.decred.org) to keep things centralized and easier to find. This page would list every Decred-related project with:
- Status (active, inactive, needs help, archived, etc.)
- Maintainer/contact
- Short description
- Links to repo / docs / discussions
Over time, this page would become the go-to reference for anyone entering the ecosystem, making it easier to match contributors with projects, highlight work that needs attention, and present the breadth of the ecosystem in a clear, accessible way.
The navbar is already a bit busy, but we can work out a clean way to link it from the homepage or main menu without cluttering.
However, lets keep this open for voting....add a 🚀 to keep as a page on decred.org or add a 👍 to spin off as a separate project.
